MOT Type 1 near me
This is a popular option for contractors who want primary building materials.
MOT Type 1 comes with limestone and granite, which are both known for having excellent load-bearing qualities. We source these materials from quarries around Nazeing and crush them. This product contains materials that range from dust to 40mm.
We recommend MOT Type 1 hardcore for transport sub bases. Transport structures can be anything from driveways to motorways. Even when this product is rolled as thin as four inches it can support heavy structures.

Recycled materials are more affordable but no less useful.
Recycled Type 1 MOT contains brick, limestone, granite, and concrete. We source these materials from demolition sites around Nazeing. There can be a lot of variation in the materials in this batch.
We recommend Recycled MOT Type 1 for bases. This material can support transport or building bases.

When we have screened the materials, only one size remains. The pieces in this batch are 40mm.
Contractors who need to create drainage systems often choose MOT Type 2. This product only contains one size, which means that it has a high flow rate.
6F5 and 6F2 Recycled Aggregates 75mm
We recommend 6F2 Recycled Aggregates for bulk-fill projects.

Screened concrete can support a number of construction projects. Contractors use it for drainage systems and concrete floor screening.
Screened Crushed Concrete 75mm

Which material has the highest flow rate?
The term ‘flow rate’ tells us how fast liquids pass through a batch of materials. The quicker liquids pass through, the higher the flow rate. The slower the liquids pass through, the lower the flow rate.
If our customers need a product that has a high flow rate we recommend MOT Type 2. This product contains 40mm pieces of primary building materials. Liquids can pass through the product without being obstructed by smaller bits of debris.
What is a screened product?
MOT Type 2 is one of the most popular screened products that we sell. It is popular because it contains two primary building materials.
Screened products only contain one size. To screen products, we put the materials in a net. The net forces the big and small pieces to separate. We throw all the smaller pieces away and only keep the bigger pieces.
Screened products have high flow rates.
What is a transport sub base?
There are two main types of sub bases: transport bases and building bases.
Like all other types of bases, transport sub bases support the structures that sit on top.
Transport bases support driveways, roads, and motorways.
We recommend MOT products for this kind of sub base.
What is MOT?
MOT stands for Ministry of Transport. Years ago, this ministry oversaw transport networks in the UK. Even though it is no longer active, it still lends its name to batches that are suitable for transport bases.
When you see a product that has this acronym in the title, you know that it is recommended for transport bases.
Crushed concrete prices
One of the most common questions that customers ask us is, ‘how much is a truckload of crushed concrete?’
We do not sell materials by the truckload. Instead, we sell materials by the ton. You only have to order the exact number of tons that you need, and you can even order enough tons to fill a truck!
We sell lots of types of crushed concrete. The price per ton starts from £18 and varies from batch to batch. Some of our batches contain more than one size and more than just concrete.
For specific information about prices, call 01992 635454.
What can I use crushed materials for?
Crushed concrete has lots of applications. We also sell crushed aggregates and MOT.
Drainage systems need materials that have high flow rates. We sell MOT Type 2 and screened concrete, both of which contain 40mm pieces. These batches do not contain any small pieces that might be dislodged by liquids. They are perfect for drainage systems.
Sub bases need strong materials that have excellent load-bearing qualities. MOT Type 1 hardcore is the go-to choice for contractors who need to create transport bases. The recycled version is more affordable but just as useful.
Bulk-fill tasks are more common than you might think. One batch of our 6F2 Recycled Aggregates is perfect for this kind of task.
Will crushed concrete harden?
It depends on how you use it. Concrete is already a hard material, but it can compact and harden further under the right circumstances.
If you use concrete for drainage systems, it will probably not compact and harden. But if you use concrete for sub bases, it probably will. To create bases, labourers have to roll and compact materials. This process forces them to harden into a cohesive base.
No matter how much crushed concrete hardens, it will never be as hard as ready mix concrete.
Is crushed concrete dangerous?
Concrete can be dangerous, but there are lots of ways that you can avoid the problems associated with concrete.
One of the main problems arises from the alkali in concrete. When liquids pass through exposed crushed concrete they become leachates. Leachates are liquids that absorb dangerous chemicals. Leachates that contain high levels of alkali can pass the chemicals to other areas on your site. We recommend putting pH controls in place to stop this from happening.
Another big issue is airborne concrete particles. Anyone who is on your construction site can inhale the particles and develop lung issues. We recommend asking anyone who enters your site to wear a mask. This eliminates the chance of inhaling concrete particles.
