How to screed a floor?

HH Muckers floor screeding is an easy, workable material. To manipulate screed, all you need is a trowel. Trowels are also known as screed floats. They are simple tools that feature a handle and a flat side.

Just run the flat side over the top of your screed. You will have a thin, blemish-free layer in no time. 

More often than not, you will see a few trowel marks on the surface. The best thing you can do is buy a carborundum stone. It will remove the trowel marks and create a blemish-free surface. 

How do I cure screed?

You need to leave time for screed floors to cure. When screed cures, it reaches its potential in terms of strength. It should reach over 50%+ of its strength in a week or so. In most cases, a week is enough for screed to reach 65% of its overall strength. 

Curing is a delicate job. It relies on lots of details, including the humidity and heat in the room. If the environment is colder than 10ºC, screed struggles to cure to its full potential.

How long does screed take to dry?

Concrete screed needs to cure and dry. 

Here are some guidelines. 

  • Floors that are 1 to 50mm thick need 1 day for each 1mm. 
  • Floors that are 50mm+ need 1-2 days for each 1mm.
