What is the difference between concrete and screed?
Even though these products share a lot of the same materials, they are not the same. Both contain cement, sand, and water. Our concrete also contains 20mm gravel.

How to screed a floor?

That being said, there are a few simple steps you can follow to screed your floor. No matter which screed you have, you need a screed float. Screed floats are also known as trowels.
Once you have poured your screed, you need to level it. A simple screed float is all you need to create smooth, even surfaces.
You might see trowel marks on the surface of your screed. In this case, you need to buy a carborundum stone. This will buff out any imperfections. 99% of stones sold by retailers have an in-built handle, which makes the smoothing process much easier.
Can I cure screed?
Floor screeding needs time to cure. By giving your screed time to cure, you are allowing it to strengthen and solidify.
Screed should reach over 50% of its strength in a week. After a week, screed usually sits at 65% of its overall strength. This number is not exact, it depends on lots of factors. The environment, heat, and humidity all have an impact.
To speed up the process, you can put a polythene sheet over your screed floor.
How long do I have to wait for screed to dry?
Curing and drying are different processes.
In general, concrete screed dries at a rate of 1mm per day. A 50mm layer of screed should take 50 days to dry.
Anything above 50mm will take longer. You should add an extra half a day for each 1mm above 50mm. 75mm layers will dry in anywhere from 75 to 100 days.
